Professional Experience
Matthew is an Associate at Laura Solomon, Esq. & Associates, where he advises nonprofit, charitable organizations on all aspects of their formation and tax exempt charities activities.

Matthew joined the firm in July 2015.  Previously, he was an associate with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in Washington, DC where he advised nonprofit organizations on a variety of corporate and tax matters.  Matthew focused on representing religious institutes and congregations in civil reconfigurations and asset protection matters.  Matthew has worked with organizations such as the Resource Center for Religious Institutes to provide guidance to religious orders and organizations on federal tax law, corporate governance and fiduciary duties, and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

Prior to joining Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, Matthew was an associate at K&L Gates LLP in New York, NY in their Corporate, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Securities Group.

Matthew speaks regularly on issues effecting nonprofit and tax exempt organizations.

Education and Licenses

Matthew received Bachelor’s degrees in History and Finance & Business Economics from the University of Notre Dame in 2004 and his Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law in 2007.  He is admitted to the state bars of Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey and the bar of the District of Columbia.
